Fabian Vogelsteller Launches New Blockchain ‘LUKSO’

Fabian Vogelsteller, an Ethereum veteran who helped shape the ecosystem in its early days, is launching a new project called LUKSO, a layer 1 blockchain designed for the “creative economy” that would compete with Ethereum itself. The 39-year old self-taught German programmer has made several significant contributions to Ethereum – namely his invention of ERC-20, which laid the foundation for many tokens such as Uniswap’s UNI and Shiba Inu’s SHIB. Validators will be able to join LUKSO through the Genesis Validator Smart Contract Deposit.

Vogelsteller’s Contributions To Ethereum

Vogelsteller’s most significant contribution to Ethereum was his invention of ERC-20 – a blueprint for creating tokens that are compatible with the blockchain. This innovation led to a surge in Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) between 2017 and 2018, spawning some of today’s biggest tokens by market capitalization such as Uniswap’s UNI, Shiba Inu’s SHIB and Arbitrum’s new ARB.

LUKSO Aims To Cater To Creative Types

LUKSO is designed specifically for creative types such as artists and fashion designers who want to leverage blockchain technology without having to learn complex coding languages or advanced development tools. The system will also offer features like micropayments, digital collectibles and tokenized assets that could pave the way for virtual worlds and metaverses supported by NFTs (Non Fungible Tokens).

Competition With Ethereum

By launching LUKSO as a layer 1 blockchain competing with Ethereum itself, Vogelsteller wants it to become an alternative platform where users can create applications with similar capabilities but easier usability than those offered by existing blockchains like Ethereum. He believes that current systems are nowhere near maturity yet and not easy enough for people outside of tech circles or coding experts.

The Creative Economy On The Blockchain

The surge in NFTs for art, music and other collectibles reflects just how much potential there is in leveraging blockchain technology for creative purposes – something Vogelsteller hopes LUKSO can capitalize on when it launches later this year. He envisions it becoming an ideal platform where developers can easily create applications catering to any type of user from fashionistas to gamers without needing deep technical knowledge or special expertise in coding language
